VICENZA SCHOLAR
Founded in 1975, The Vicenza Program is the University of Virginia’s most prestigious Architecture fellowship awarded to only 20 students from the undergraduate and graduate schools of Architecture and Art. The program enable students to study hand- drafting and architectural sketching while living in Northern Italy.
Living in Vicenza led to the exploration of architecture's interactions with light and shadow. Focusing on form rather than line emphasized the movements of shadow against structure and material. Images created tonally before adding architectural details. Some sketches took a few moments, others, a few hours.
